Do The Chickens Have Large Talons?
by Dan Desroches
The inspiration for this track comes from the hillarious movie Napoleon Dynamite. Many sound samples from the movie are used throughout the track. Nine Inch Nails' A Warm Place is the ambient music playing in the background of the track. Most instruments in the composition are the different aif files that are loaded. As well some of the files are sped up and/or slowed down (i.e they talk like chipmunks or in slomo for a neat effect)
The instrument I invented combines loaded in samples and granular synthesis. The result is the very strange hi pitched noise heard at certain points in the composition. The wolverines.aif and Ninja.aif are loaded in via the disk in, these two inputs then become the frequency to the grainular synthesis functions. the remaining parameters to these functions are as follows, as well the dataflow diagram follows:
a1 grain 5000, ain, 55, 5020, 10, .05, 1, 3, 2 ; asynch. granular
synthesis
a2 grain 2300, ain2, 55, 1000, 20, .03, 1, 3, 2 ; asynch. granular
synthesis
ain=wolverines.aif
ain2=ninja.aif
I hope you like my composition! GOSH!
