TGC: CSound Composition

To create my composition, lovingly named “CraigsHorribleCSoundSong” or “CHCSS” for short, I used a few different instruments.

instr    107

This instrument is borrowed from Requiem for a Dream by Rodrigo Neves. In his project it was called instrument 1.

I modified it slightly to make it sound less like requiem, but if you listen closely you can notice it.

instr    200

This is my custom created instrument. It combined two looping oscillators each looping the audio track “kick.aif” into a standard oscillator. The result is an odd pop-click sound, which you have to listen for.

instr    106

This instrument is simply a looping oscillator that loops through the track “kick.aif”.

instr    108

This instrument is simply a looping oscillator that loops through the track “psy3-2.aif”.

instr    111

This instrument is simply a looping oscillator that loops through the track “bugsbunny2.aif”. This sound is hard to make out in the composition, but listen carefully for: “Eh, your mother chews bubble gum!”

instr    109

The granular synthesis instrument. In the composition if you listen the high pitched humming is generated by this instrument. Neat effect!

instr    2

This instrument was created by Joe Maffei as part of a project to generate Psytrance with CSound. his blog is found here: http://joesprojectblog.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

To create this composition I prepared myself mentally and physically to be in my peak condition. I woke up every morning, drank 5 eggs, and then went out into the world.

As a result of my long preparations CHCSS is a hit! Created the night before the assignment was due, after a couple Red Bulls it is now soaring up the charts!

I have been nominated for a Grammy and stand a good chance of winning.
